Chicago Mission Trip

SInce the high schoolers are out on Spring Break this week we planned a quick one day mission trip to the Roseland Ministries Center. Basically we delivered needed items, had a tour of their ministry, and then went downtown Chicago. Eleven of us drove to Roseland and brought books and personal hygiene items. The tour was really cool. The ministry center lets women and children stay overnight and encourages the mothers to look for jobs during the day. The kids have to be in school and their is day care for the little ones. Boys/Men ages 13 and older have to be out of the building at night, but meals are available during the day. They also hand out food on a monthly basis to families. The center has a play room, a lounge, sleeping quarters for women, children, and boys(age 5-12).

Comments:
That 13 cut off strikes me as a little strict. What does a 13 year old kid do if he's turned out at night? Is there another place for them to go?

I guess they can be strict because they make the rules. The ministry center makes this rule for safety reasons is what they told us. It is sad that they need to be this concerned about safety for kids that are 13, but remember too that some kids are full grown at that age.
